News

January 2010 – We are pleased to announce that James W. Bell has joined the Firm as an Associate in our Worcester office. His area of focus will include general liability and business litigation. Prior to joining Burns & Farrey, Attorney Bell worked as an attorney in Boston on a variety of matters including patent cases, wrongful death and commercial litigation. Attorney Bell began his legal career as law clerk to the Honorable Larry Weeks, Judge of the Superior Court of Alaska in Juneau. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts and is a graduate of Williams College and the University of Connecticut School of Law. 

November 2009 – Erik J. Tomberg and Edward B. McGrath of our Boston office have authored a chapter, “Torts to Property,” in the updated “Torts Law Manual,” which was published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (MCLE) in November. The chapter provides a broad overview of Trespass to Land, Nuisance, Waste, and Trespass to Chattels/Conversion.

November 2009 – Jeffrey A. Fishman of our Worcester office was honored by the St. Thomas More Society of Worcester County as the 2009 recipient of the Bishop Bernard J. Flanagan Ecumenical Award.  The award was presented at the Red Mass celebration held on
November 22, 2009.  

October 2009 – James P. McLarnon, Jr. of our Worcester office was recently published in the UK-based "Post Magazine" for his piece "Articles of Faith", which details steps insurers can take to avoid and defend bad faith claims.

October 2009 – Timothy J. Smyth of our Boston office was recently published in "Claims Advisor" magazine for his article "OSHA Standards in General Contractor Claims".  A link to this article appears below.

Summer 2009 – Frank S. Puccio, Jr. and Margaret R. Suuberg of our Boston and Worcester offices represented Consolidated Coating Company, Inc. in its multi-million dollar sale of assets. Attorneys Puccio and Suuberg will continue to represent the principal shareholder of the company as well as the related Consolidated Realty Trust.
